CATHOLIC
LIFE AND
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION GOALS We commit ourselves
to working
collaboratively to educate and enliven the faith of all by: *
Linking the key components of the revised St. Gabriel’s Vision and *
Maintaining the strong relationship between the school and the Parish
by
meeting regularly to discuss pertinent issues and utilising the
knowledge of
Father George through liturgies and class visits. *
Highlighting the charism of the founding orders of the school. *
Developing a new school prayer that encapsulates the themes of the
Vision and *
Providing parent information sessions throughout each of the
Sacramental
programs so that they have a better understanding of what is being
taught. *
Promoting the St. Gabriel’s Vision and STUDENTS
AND THEIR
LEARNING GOALS We commit
ourselves to providing educational opportunities for each student to
achieve
their personal best by: * Implementing the Strategic Improvement Plan (2011 – 2014) to provide students enrolled at St. Gabriel’s with a high quality education in the Catholic tradition. * Expanding the ‘Across Stage’ approach in Numeracy and Literacy to include an ‘Above Stage’ approach to cater for the needs of high achievers. * Exploring the use of student self-reflection and self-assessment to direct their ongoing learning. * Further developing
enrichment programs in a variety of
KLA’s to cater for gifted and talented students. * Implementing various targeted intervention programs to assist students reach their full potential. * Providing
meaningful leadership opportunities for students
in the school to develop their interpersonal skills.
KEY AREA 3
PEDAGOGY GOALS We commit
ourselves to ensuring students are at the centre of the learning
process and
through high expectations are encouraged to be proactive, critical and
creative
thinkers By: * Utilising established school-based benchmarks and targets to promote a culture of excellence throughout the school. * Monitoring student performance in both internal and external assessments to identify students at risk and better address individual needs. * Creating a new pedagogical approach to the teaching / learning of spelling to improve learning outcomes for all students. * Using the Learning Support program to enable the smooth transition of students from grade to grade and from school to school. * Working with
advisers from the Catholic Education Office
to explore effective assessment practices in Numeracy and Religious
Education.

RESOURCES,
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT. GOALS We commit
ourselves to promoting an ethical school culture focused on positive
improvement for all by: * Utilising the expertise of system advisers and educational experts to keep up to date with knowledge and understandings of quality contemporary teaching and learning practice. * Providing parent information sessions in a variety of areas throughout the year. * Developing a culture of shared leadership throughout the school by utilising the talents, skills, strengths and interest of various members of the community. * Clarifying expectations around the roles and responsibilities of each staff member through the PPPR process. *Planning
whole-school staff development opportunities that
are linked to the Strategic Improvement Plan. KEY
AREA 5 RESOURCES,
FINANCE
AND FACILITIES GOALS We commit ourselves
ensuring
all school resources and facilities are effectively managed and
maintained for
the benefit of the school and wider community by: * Utilising the collective wisdom of staff, parents and System advisers to prioritise school budget expenses and develop a long-term plan. * Working with the Class Parent Association to develop fund-raising strategies that involve the wider community. * Ensuring the yearly financial report on the school continues to be complimentary of the budgeting processKEY
AREA 6 PARENTS,
PARTNERSHIP, CONSULTATION AND COMMUNICATION GOALS We commit
ourselves to encouraging, developing and sustaining positive
partnerships
between the school, parents, parish and broader community by: * Involving parents
with in-class demonstrations to
highlight best educational practice. * Continuing to offer
information sessions for parents
around a variety of educational issues to assist them in their roles as
the
first educators of their children. * Building community
by establishing opportunities for
parents to help out with their children’s education in a variety of
ways. * Exploring ways of
formally recognising the positive
contribution made by parents. KEY
AREA 7 STRATEGIC
LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT GOALS We commit ourselves
to strategic management processes that
provide direction for the effective implementation of the Vision and * Establishing learning teams to address the priorities of the Strategic Improvement Plan. * Ensuring staff meetings are focused on reflective practice that drives school improvement and innovation. * Developing a
climate of professional learning that is
linked to the Strategic Improvement Plan. KEY
AREA 8 INFORMATION
AND
COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) GOALS We commit ourselves to the integration of ICT into the teaching and learning cycle to bring about improved learning outcomes for our students by: * Utilizing the skills of the
newly-employed IT technician to ensure the electronic teaching /
learning aids
are working to their maximum capacity for the students.
* Providing student / parent / teacher education programs in the area of cyber safety. * Reviewing the current school scope and sequence in the area of ICT and making changes where required. * Using information technologies to support the work done in the areas of Special Needs, English as a Second Language (ESL) and the Creative Arts. * Up skilling staff to more effectively integrate information technologies into all KLA’s to improve contemporary student learning.
